That all said, Ubuntu is the single most popular and widely used distro for Linux right now. Even if it won't be supported for the time being, attention must be paid. I know for a fact that several IBMers use Ubuntu internally (perhaps not for this beta release, but...)
Anyway, thus far, I've had an okay time of things with Ubuntu. It installed cleanly, and I can open databases and send emails and the like.
Alongside the notes.ini not being created, Notes doesn't seem to upgrade the databases (even though I saw the 'Upgrading databases' in the status bar when I first loaded it with all my DBs in the data folder. I am going to imagine that there is some correlation between not having the databases upgraded and the frequent NSDs anytime I try and launch something, be it a browser link, an RSS feed, etc.
I am also unable to see the open windows alongside the Open button, nor are there any entries in the Open button menu.
I imagine a lot of THAT has to do with my having used the notes.ini from my Notes 7 Linux install. There are probably a lot of objects pointing in the wrong place.
Can any of the dev's comment on what a bare-minimum notes.ini would need in order to run?
